360 Security will ensure that nothing malicious lurks on the web or download files. It can block access from suspicious sites, scan the history of your browser, keep track of how much data you use and even track down the phone you’ve lost.
The suite also comes with a firewall, a shredder of data and scheduled system cleaning tools. It updates drivers automatically, includes anti-tracking functions, and provides you with access to technical support with just one click.
There are a lot of options and settings however, the interface of the program is easy to use and understand. The majority of settings are controlled by a large switch or button. This is great from an ergonomics standpoint. The program is available on both Windows and Mac, and it’s free to use (ad-supported).
The antivirus does a great job of protecting your PC from malware. Its real-time protection is able to detect more than 99percent of threats, and it didn’t produce any false positives in my testing. However, it’s not equipped with the same level of detection that the leading products do in terms of heuristics and file scanning.
360 Total Security offers a number of additional security and maintenance options as well as the VPN that is only available in the premium version. Its heuristic algorithm detects malware by looking at the behavior of a program, which is very useful, particularly in cases where the threat has not yet been formally identified. The program has a cleanup tool, along with other tune-up programs that can improve PC performance.
